As the Director of Development & Advancement of a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive services for LGBTQ youth and young adults experiencing interpersonal and systemic barriers to housing, health, and wellness, identifying and engaging individuals who are passionate about our mission is one of the most important functions of my role. It was through this effort that I had the privilege of meeting Amy Goula. Normally in these meetings, there is a delicate balance of presenting an overview of the organization, while also attempting to gauge an individual’s interests and philanthropic goals.  This, however, was not a typical meeting. Within a matter of minutes, it was Amy asking me how she could get involved.
